It's been a while since I've written a post about an awesome prize that I've won and that's because it's been FOREVER and a day since I've actually won anything! But last week the drought was broken and I won myself a little something - an adorable Beanie Boo prize pack from the Ty Beanie Boo Collectors Facebook page. Ok, so not exactly a prize for me, although I do have my own collection that my kids aren't suppose to touch, lol. I wanted to add 'Sugar' the pink elephant to my collection but Miss P gave me puppy dog eyes and I caved. My kids have so many of these cute little plushies already and every time I think they have enough we find new ones that we just have to have, like the flamingo - have you seen the flamingo?
I was introduced to the dipping world via Facebook recently and joined a fabulous dip group called - Win-A-Holics. What is 'dipping', you ask? Well it's just like a raffle. You join the closed dip group on Facebook as either a dipper or seller (approval required before selling) or both. Once you have been added to the group, you can browse through the current listings up for sale - some handmade, some non-handmade, all amazing! If you see something you love, ask for a dip (basically a raffle ticket). If there is an item for sale that is valued at say $50, there may be 50 x $1, 25 x $2 or even 10 x $5 dips available for purchase. Buyers will request dips and the seller will allocate their number/s in order until all dips (tickets) have been purchased. Once all dips have been sold, payments are requested - a PayPal account is required to pay for any dips purchased. When the seller has confirmed that they have received all payments, it's time to draw a lucky winner. Depending on how many dips the dipper (buyer) has purchased, they may end up with a fantastic prize for as little as $1.34! (incl. Paypal fees).
Most people who know me know that I enjoy a glass of wine every now and then. Well actually, it's usually a 3 glass ritual when I have a nice bottle on standby - one while I'm cooking dinner, because it's the most dreaded task I have to complete each day. One while I'm eating dinner - I'm no chef so I have to consume something that tastes good at dinner time. The third is for when I've finally got the kids off to bed - and depending on how stressful a task this has been a fourth glass is occasionally necessary.
Given this you could imagine my delight when I found out that I had won 6 bottles of white wine thanks to Vino Sunset.
2016 has, so far, been a very busy time for me. Between work, kids/family, etc, etc I've unfortunately not been able to dedicate as much time to comping as I would like - gotta be a grown up sometimes and prioritise **sigh**. Of course I haven't taken a complete break, but for quite a while the few comps I had been entering were not converting to wins. Slowly I've been able to get on top of things again and find some balance between work, family and my favourite hobby .......... and finally there's been some progress on the prize front!
It's been a while since I've posted a win - it's actually been a while since I've had a win! I haven't been comping as much as I would like to lately, for a number of reasons - work, family etc I won't bore you with the details! But this week a little luck came my way and I was fortunate enough to win a Push Pop BMX bike thanks to a local confectionary wholesaler Kev Baldwin Confectionary.
It's a little big for either of my kids right now so I may have to store it for a few years until they graduate from training wheels!
Earlier this year I won a double pass for a Gold Class cinema experience at Event Cinemas. I was over the moon. I had been dying to go for some time now and this weekend just gone I made sure that these tickets didn't go to waste. 'How To Be Single' was showing so my sister & I set off for a child-free, girly afternoon.
The bar area was quite flash, I was starving so I grabbed the closest menu as soon as we walked in. Everything was quite pricey, I had expected that though. The movie tickets I had won were valued at $42 each so I came prepared for the expensive food and beverages. Luckily there was a 'meal deal' on offer - 3 Sliders & Fries, a Choc Peanut & Pretzel Sundae and a Daiquiri for $40. It seemed like the best value so that's what I went with.
Earlier in the year, March I think it was, I was fortunate enough to win a 5 night stay at Zagame's Paradise Resort on the Gold Coast. The voucher was valid until the end of 2015 and could only be taken during school term. I thought it might be nice to book our trip for our wedding anniversary, 22 November, as the weather would be nice, the school term is almost over anyway and because we never do anything to celebrate our anniversary - from memory, last year my husband & I went to other people's parties........separately.
So we leave for our holiday in less than 2 weeks and I can't wait as we visited the resort in 2014 and loved it, but it has recently just hit me that I had in fact booked it for the worst possible time..........
May turned out to be another great month for me. I have previously never won prizes in a Mother's Day giveaway and this year I was lucky enough to win two - a nut/chocolate gift basket and an Endota Spa voucher. Other prizes I won along the way include:
* A Sunbeam Café Grande Grill
* A Rebel Sport Voucher
* A Hunger Games pack
* Big Hero 6 on DVD
* A Ben 10 DVD pack
* A SpongeBob Underwater Camera
And there was one prize I was particularly smitten with. Something I've been trying to win year after year and until now have had little luck with...........
Last month I was lucky enough to have won tickets to the Newcastle Show, so the kids and I definitely enjoyed our weekend because it was showtime! So much to see and do this year. As usual, the kids just loved visiting the animal nursery - piglets, lambs, chicks, bunnies, baby goats, oh so cute! The Food & Wine Exhibition was great this year too.......well it looked great - unfortunately for me my kiddies couldn't stand still long enough for me to try anything. I was also looking forward to filling in a few competition/promotion entries while I was there, but wasn't to be - the kids were leading the way.
Generally February is a fairly quiet month for me - prize wise. It is the shortest month of the year, plus over November/December I'm usually glued to my computer obsessively entering ALL of the Christmas comps so I try to sit back and give myself a breather early in the new year. I guess I didn't really take that break this year. I think I had such amazing luck with all the Christmas promotions that I've just found it really difficult to stop. Well you could say that my time has been well spent as February 2015 has been pretty fabulous.
