So starting from the beginning......it was Monday night, very late - closer to Tuesday morning actually, I was up entering competitions, as I do on all days ending in 'y'. I decided to check out the competitions on some of the local radio stations websites and of course entering all that I possibly could. During my search I came across a Mother's Day competition. The prize was pretty awesome - a $70 day spa voucher, a chocolate bouquet, plus Stan Walker and Kelly Clarkson's latest albums. Entry was simple, just fill in your name and contact details and wait for the phone to ring. The catch? You have to answer the phone with the phrase, 'I love my mum'. Pretty straight forward, right?
So what have I learned from this experience? Apart from discovering that I have the memory of a goldfish, forgetting that I had entered the competition - you know, the night before!! Next time I enter this type of competition I will be taping a reminder note to my phone. I guess that being a mum trumps being a comper, especially in the morning rush as comping was the furthest thing from my mind at the time.
Oh well, this one got away like many others but there are plenty more fish in the sea. Fingers crossed for next time.
